From bus to bike (or vice versa): Las Palmas launches its first modal interchange

We are pleased to announce that a recent news article has been published in Canarias7, describing in the framework of SPINE project how Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has inaugurated its first modal transport interchange, which aims to facilitate smoother transfers between buses, bicycles, scooters, and other public transport modes.

Key highlights:

  • The new interchange is located behind the La Ballena shopping center, near Escaleritas, connecting bus stops with the city’s public bike/scooter station.
  • The city has installed unified signage to guide users through modal shifts (bus → bike / scooter / walking) and improve ease of movement.
  • This is being launched as a pilot project; users are invited to submit suggestions before the signage is finalized.
  • Notably, in October, Las Palmas will host a meeting of SPINE cities to exchange mobility experiences and policies.
