MOBY X SOFTWARE LIMITED

Hello, my name is Giannis Tsouros, and I am a Lead Researcher at Moby X. I am a transport modeller and data scientist, with nearly 15 years of experience working on scientific projects related to transport, mobility, data, and policy. I hold a PhD in travel behaviour analysis and also regularly teach classes related to these subjects. In SPINE, I lead the Moby X team in modelling and development-related tasks.
Moby X was part of the original proposal writing team, together with the University of the Aegean and INLECOM. We are happy to have been involved from the very early stages of the project, and even happier to see it funded and successfully materialising.
SPINE is a very important project for Moby X, as it allows us to significantly improve our core products, especially the Citizen app, and provides a demanding, real-life stress test for them. In addition, it is a highly rewarding experience from a modelling perspective, as it enables us to collaborate with cities across Europe and gain valuable experience and knowledge through close interaction with decision-makers and scientists across the continent.
We have a triple role in SPINE:
a) we act as a digital provider, responsible for delivering the Citizen app and the OBB;
b) we are a modelling partner, responsible for developing activity-based and demand models in collaboration with other modelling partners; and
c) we are responsible for the project’s Data Management Plans.
By the end of the project, we hope to have achieved an advanced level of understanding of the most effective ways to communicate and collaborate with city partners and other digital providers within the multifactor environment of development and modelling. This environment requires strong communication, tight timelines, and a clear, honest understanding of cities’ needs. From a technical perspective, we also hope to see our products reach a higher level of maturity, enriched by valuable real-life usage experience from citizens participating in the project.
