Milton Gomes
My name is Milton Gomes, I work for the City of Barreiro as coordinator of the Mobility Office. I am responsible for strategic mobility and transport planning in Barreiro and for developing projects and actions that promote sustainable urban mobility. My role in the SPINE project is to collaborate and support the project manager to achieve the main objectives outlined in this project for LL Barreiro.

Being the theme of this project common to other ongoing projects, in which the municipality of Barreiro is involved, the synergies established with the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST-ID) provided the involvement of the Municipality of Barreiro by invitation of this entity.

The TCB, as a local operator of urban road public transport (managed by the Municipality of Barreiro) seeks to develop technological tools that improve the quality of the public transport service, as a way of increasing demand, with repercussions on the environmental quality of cities, reducing the use of individual transport with effects on decarbonization.

The SPINE project will contribute to the integration of new digital tools, with effects on accessibility to public transport, improvement in the quality of information provided to users and improve the intermodality of public transport in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area.

The Municipality of Barreiro is one of the 8 twin cities, which will seek to contribute to the requirements and needs in the development of technological tools to be applied in Living Lab cities, seeking to incorporate the developments successfully implemented in these cities.

At the end of the project, we intend for the Municipality of Barreiro, through the TCB, to have digital tools that allow for increased decarbonization of the city and the Lisbon Metropolitan Area, which allow for an increase in the number of passengers transported by public transport, and simultaneously reduce traffic in individual transport, reducing congestion and improving the quality of life in the city.
