SPINE Event in Valladolid: Adult citizens co-design digital solutions for sustainable mobility
On May 16, 2025, a participatory event was held in Valladolid as part of the European project SPINE – Smart Public transport Initiatives for climate-Neutral cities in Europe, promoted by the city of Valladolid and its municipal innovation agency IdeVa, in collaboration with the adult education centre CEPA La Victoria.
The event gathered more than 40 participants from the Erasmus+ programme and aimed to collect insights and feedback from adult and elderly citizens on how to improve access to public transport information. The agenda included open dialogue sessions, a presentation of SPINE actions in the city, and a co-creation workshop focused on designing digital and physical information tools for use in municipal centres for the elderly.
Participants shared relevant suggestions, such as the need for improved bus frequency in some city areas and clearer communication in case of service changes. Among the SPINE measures presented, traffic management solutions and new communication channels were particularly well received. The workshop concluded with useful inputs to be considered in the technical design of the new installations.
This event stands as a concrete example of citizen involvement in shaping more inclusive, accessible, and climate-neutral cities, fully aligned with the EU Climate Mission objectives.
