SPINE Pop-up Exhibition in Barreiro: engaging citizens through digital innovation and sustainable mobility
At the beginning of December 2025, SPINE organised a local pop-up exhibition in Barreiro with the objective of strengthening the role of the SPINE project as a European driver of sustainable mobility. The initiative focused in particular on promoting the new “TCB Viajar no Barreiro” application, presented as an innovative digital tool supporting integrated mobility solutions at local level.
The event also aimed to encourage the use of public transport and to actively involve citizens in the discussion on urban mobility. Through direct interaction with the public, the initiative enabled the collection of information and insights regarding users’ travel experiences and the quality of public transport services within the municipality, contributing to a better understanding of local mobility needs and expectations.
To maximise outreach and make information as accessible as possible, the pop-up exhibition was conceived as a travelling event, moving across different strategic locations in Barreiro. These included the Citizen’s Shop, the Barreiro multimodal transport hub, and central commercial areas, allowing the initiative to reach diverse segments of the population in their everyday environments.
This approach facilitated face-to-face engagement with citizens, hands-on demonstrations of the “TCB Viajar no Barreiro” application, and the opportunity to answer questions related to available mobility services. At the same time, it helped reinforce the Municipality’s close relationship with the local community and its commitment to the use of digital tools and technological innovation in the management of urban mobility.
