EU Council Paves the Way for Seamless Travel: European Disability Card Set to Ease Journeys for Persons with Disabilities

The Council has established its negotiating stance on the directive for the European disability card and parking card, aiming to enhance accessibility for persons with disabilities traveling across the EU. The directive ensures equal access to special conditions during short stays, including reduced fees, priority access, and reserved parking spaces. Member states can extend these measures for stays longer than three months, and the European parking card will replace existing cards for cross-border mobility within five years. The directive emphasizes multilingualism and data protection, introducing physical and digital cards recognized throughout the EU.
