Mobility for all: Šibenik engages citizens in inclusive urban transport
On 19 September 2025, the City of Šibenik hosted the public event “Mobility for All” at Poljana Square as part of European Mobility Week 2025. The event, co-organised by the City of Šibenik, Gradski parking d.o.o., ODRAZ, and Kolektiv 4B, aimed to promote accessible, safe, and sustainable mobility for everyone – including youth, seniors, and persons with disabilities.
The event showcased several measures developed within the SPINE project, such as the ŠI@ALL MaaS travel planning app, an interactive kiosk at the mobility hub, and proposals for e-bike charging station locations. Citizens took part through information stands, direct dialogue with organisers, and a public survey on mobility habits, satisfaction, and SPINE pilot activities.
Survey responses revealed that most participants use public transport regularly, mainly for commuting to work or school, and expressed high satisfaction with the cleanliness, reliability, and accessibility of Šibenik’s new buses. Many participants also praised the city’s digitalisation efforts and said they were eager to use the ŠI@ALL app as soon as it becomes available.
“Digital tools are a big step forward, but not everyone knows how to use them yet — workshops could help.” (citizen, M, 67 years)
“The kiosk at the port was useful for getting information – they should install more around the city.” (citizen, M, 37 years)
More than 100 visitors attended the event, including three high school classes and their teachers, who came to learn more about Šibenik’s evolving public transport system. First impressions were overwhelmingly positive, with many citizens noting visible improvements in service quality, access, and information.
“Buses are clean and on time. Drivers are kind, ticket prices are acceptable, and information is easy to find — everything is improving.” (citizen, F, 43 years)
Citizens also shared constructive feedback, including requests for more frequent bus departures during peak hours, improved suburban connections, and real-time arrival updates.
The Mobility for All event reaffirmed Šibenik’s commitment to climate-neutral and inclusive mobility, actively involving citizens in shaping a transport system that serves everyone. Through its SPINE activities, Šibenik continues to promote an integrated and people-centred approach to urban mobility.
